Boarding NewsFebruary 14, 2020
Welcome to another year in boarding. I’m delighted to welcome you all back, especially those families and girls joining us for the first time. The girls have really settled well, despite a number feeling very homesick. This isn’t uncommon, and we have found the best solutions are to keep busy, find new friendships and involve oneself in as many activities as possible. The Welcome Weekend was a wonderful time for boarders, new and old, across all year groups to participate in a number of activities all designed to encourage new friendships and give the younger girls opportunity to mix with their older peers. The movie night was very well supported as was our games day and Foreshore Picnic.
This weekend we continue to offer a range of activities, including valentine’s day dinner with Mazenod, shopping at Morley Galleria, AFLW football, a Kings Park picnic day and a craft session run by the staff. Just a reminder to parents to let your daughters know if you’re planning on visiting as once they sign up for an activity, we do encourage them to attend, especially for those activities we have had to book and pay for specific numbers.
I do encourage all parents to join our boarding Facebook group as it’s a great way to keep up with what’s happening on a daily basis in your daughter’s life. Just search SBC Boarding on Facebook, (you’ll see a cute picture of our former boarding bunny) and ask to join the closed group.
