Boarding NewsAugust 11, 2020
Term 3 has started well with many of the girls delighted that some sport has resumed along with the beginnings of a pre-Covid 19 weekend recreation programme. Whilst our journey back to what we knew as normal is certainly moving slowly, it’s a positive step nonetheless.
I’m delighted to be also be able to let parents know that from August 24th, parents will be able to once again join us for dinner and in the case of mums, go to their daughters room.
From time to time we find that boarders will go through periods of not abiding by college guidelines with relation to uniform. Whilst I’m very happy for girls to have additional piercings or wear makeup and jewellery for the weekends, I would like to remind parents that the requirements for school are quite different and need to be adhered to. Increasingly a number of girls are also trying to wear their sport uniform for the whole day and again, this is something that needs attention as the uniform guidelines are quite specific.
On September 21st we will be holding Mercy Dinner – our only formal dinner event for boarders and as such, girls will need to have a smart casual outfit for the event. If his can come back to boarding with the girls after the long weekend break that would be fabulous.
In recent weeks, we have started the process for 2021 Boarding leadership. Five boarders will be running for Head Boarder positions and I’m delighted that these girls have nominated – Taz Marshall, Kacey Umbagai, Jess Padfield, Rose Carter and Nicole Bryant. I wish them all the best of luck. The girls will need to now work on their leadership speeches which will take place in a few weeks.
As we approach the long weekend, which I know many of the girls are certainly looking forward to, this is a reminder that Boarding will close at 5pm on Thursday, 20th August and reopen at 3pm on Monday 24th August
Once again, I remind parents of the following:
- Girls departing on flights prior to 6am will need to be signed out by guardians the night prior to their flying home and dropped off at the airport.
- Girls arriving on flights, buses or trains prior to 3pm will need to be collected by Perth based guardians and dropped at Boarding after 3pm.
Please ensure that you lodge your Leave via Reach, no later than Friday, 14th August especially if Boarding needs to transport the girls to the airport, train station or bus terminals.
With warm regards
Head of Boarding
