Boarding News

As we end the first semester, it has been very pleasing to see that  the majority of girls have dedicate themselves to making life in our boarding family as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Similarly, their efforts at school and with their sporting and other extra-curricular pursuits have been very pleasing indeed. I hope that the break will give all our boarders an opportunity to return refreshed and recharged, and in the cases of the few girls who have found the requirements of community living a challenge, perhaps return with a more cooperative and positive attitude.

Residential living isn’t without its difficulties, and this term in particular, I’ve been saddened by the number of girls reporting personal items missing from their rooms.  I  urge all girls to leave valuables with the staff or to locked them in their safes to ensure that extra layer of security . we are currently exploring other security options for the future in boarding.

Last week a  number of the girl were involved in the opening of the Girls Academy and I was so very proud of all their efforts and the mature manner in which they conducted themselves at the event.

Our Year 10-12 girls are excited about the Boarders Ball next term on September 8th and I remind them all to purchase their tickets before the closing date on August 22nd.

We wish Catherine Housemother, Mrs Yvonne Hasson a well-deserved long service leave during term 3 and look forward to hearing about her  overseas travels when she returns in Term 4 .

I’ve been really happy to see so many girl stake part in the recreation programme this term, not just the events at other schools but also events run by our own staff – many of which were very popular and saw the girls  have a great time.

I wish you all a fabulous break with your daughters and look forward to welcoming them back after 3pm on Monday 16th July.

With best wishes
