Boarding NewsDecember 07, 2018
As we finish another successful year in our boarding community, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff for their continued commitment to the girls. Especially, I say thank you and farewell to Mrs Eryl Munks who leaves us to pursue other adventures (though I’m sure we can convince her to join our relief roster) and Maria and Dale both from the Dining Room. Maria is almost part of the SBC furniture, having being here for 30 years. Dale is only a new addition, but has been just fabulous preparing tasty meals for the girls and always greeting us all with a smile and a friendly word.
As we approach Christmas, it’s been great seeing the girls take part in Christmas cooking, craft and also a Christmas Light Trial through the city last Friday night. I wish you all a happy and joyful festive season and a safe and happy start to 2019.
The boarding house will close for the holidays on Friday 7th December. Whilst I will be available on email over the December/ break, please be aware that I will be away and it may take me longer than usual to get back to you. The boarding office will reopen on Monday 21st January. Boarding will reopen on Monday February 4th for returning boarders from 3pm. Parents requiring us to collect girls from the airport or bus/train stations (from 3pm onwards only) should send through all travel details before Friday 25th January by email or via Reach. New boarders will receive correspondence regarding arrival times and other important information in due course.
I do hope that many of you will join us for a sausage sizzle dinner on the boarding lawn from 5.30pm when you drop your girls off on February 4th. Information about this will be emailed home this week.
Year 12s are reminded to let me know asap by email if they’d like to access the boarding house on Monday morning after the ball, we will open for them at 9am if there is a need. Parents are reminded that staff will not be on duty officially till 3pm on this day.
As always, I’m very grateful for all the parent support we receive and look forward to another very rewarding year with our girls here at SBC.
Best wishes and Merry Christmas.
