Parent Forum News

What a fantastic year 2018 has been for the St Brigid’s College Parent Forum.

The Parent Forum is here to help support our College, Teachers and Support Staff – we do this to help contribute to the education of our children.  We are a Volunteer Organisation and without the amazing support of all our Parents and Guardians, we would not be able to achieve everything we have – so a special thank you to each and every one of you.

I would like to make special mention of two wonderful volunteers in 2018:

  • Tamara Brutti – her hard work in organising and running the Welcome Party each year has been truly awesome. Thanks Tamara … we love your work.
  • Kyllie Whitehead – for taking on and running with the role of Banking Coordinator in 2018. Thanks Kylie, we really appreciate everything you do for us.

We will again be calling on your help in 2019. We have some big plans and for us to achieve them, we are going to need your support.  Whilst we understand that time is a very precious commodity, if you’re able to assist with a few hours of your time, please let me know, your help will be greatly appreciated.

As always, we have a core group of people who have dedicated a lot of time and effort to the College and the PF over the last 12 months.  I would like to personally thank each of them for their tireless work;

  • Dave Thomasson – President
  • Tracy Gall – Vice President
  • Paul Kettle – Secretary
  • Mandy Wallace – Treasurer

Committee Members:

  • Jo Whittington
  • Rachael Thomasson
  • Andrew Harris

There will be a changing of the guard in 2019, with the following people stepping down from their roles.

Dave Thomasson – He leaves behind a Parent Forum in great shape and ready for all the challenges of 2019.   Thanks for all your help and guidance over the years, Dave, you have left a great legacy and one you should feel very proud of.

Rachael Thomasson -Her work has been tireless and her efforts at the Word Teacher’s Day morning tea and Amelia’s Farewell were stunning, she has a true gift.   Thanks Rachael!

Andrew Harris – His efforts in organising and running the Mums Night Out over recent years has been legendary and will be sorely missed.  Thanks Andrew!

Jo Whittington – Jo’s volunteer work goes well beyond the PF; She is a machine.  Thanks for all your work Jo and your efforts with the PF Facebook page!

I would also like to say a heartfelt thanks to Amelia in her last year at the College. She has always provided guidance and support for everything the PF has wanted to do.  We are all going to miss you Amelia.  Good luck for wherever your future takes you.

The 2019 PF Committee

A new year and a new Committee! Thanks to all for stepping forward and volunteering their time.  We have lots of challenges and opportunities in 2019 and I am looking forward to working with each and every one of you as we make the College’s 90th year one to remember.

PF Activities in 2018

Looking back of the last School Year, we have achieved a lot!

  • School Banking scheme continuation;
  • Contribution to Dad’s Big Breakfast raffle prizes;
  • Facilitation of a presentation from the Mayor of Kalamunda;
  • World Teacher Day Morning Tea;
  • Entertainment Book fundraiser;
  • Bicycle raffle at Carols on the Green

PF Grant Applications in 2018

In 2018 the PF was able to support and approve 22 Grants totaling over $ 55K.  It was pleasing to see such a wide variety of Grant Applications this year … from the purchase of two new Wheel Chairs for our wonderful Nurses, storage systems for our Robotics Club, Flutes for our Music Department and even Vacuum Cleaners for our Boarders.

This year we did not manage to spend all available funds (something we aim to do each year).  So next year we need your help to spend … spend … spend … we have the money, so let’s use it.    The process is easy ( refer PF page on the College Website ), if you have any questions, email me at or give me a call on 0401 990 556.
