We have had a busy start to Term 3 and it has been wonderful to see that after months of activities being curtailed due to COVID-19,  the calendar is again starting to show signs of life! The Year 3s attended their Reconciliation Workshop with the wonderful, engaging and entertaining presenters from 24/7 Ministry. The students got a lot out of the day, participating in a range of group activities as well as having time for reflection.

Athletics Carnivals also featured strongly across all the sub schools and the enthusiasm of each and every girl and boy was marvellous. Parents too, showed their support of these events which was very much appreciated. I thank all the staff for their stewardship of the events which certainly require an “all hands on deck” approach.

I was very pleased  with the number of Year 11 students who nominated for 2021 leadership positions. This morning, I was able to catch their speeches and must admit to being so very impressed with their level of maturity  and commitment to serving the College on the Student Representative Council next year.

With our Mercy term now well underway, it’s wonderful to look back on the efforts of our community, who  at the end of Term 2, celebrated LifeLink Day, raising over $1000.00 and collecting a wonderful ‘pile’ of food donations for our Food Wall. Our food donations have since been  transported by bus to The Shopfront in Bentley and St Patrick’s Community Support Centre in Fremantle (we combined with the Mazenod College Winter Appeal). Further donations are also going to support the work of the Vinnies locally.

Along with staff from Mazenod College, last week we visited the Pilbara region and hosted information sessions for prospective families . It was  also an ideal opportunity to meet up with our current families and past students who were all  delighted having us on their “turf”.

We are pleased to announce that our 2021 Scholarships have been finalised and the recipients for 2021 are:

Hannah McDonald St Brigid’s College Sue Spencer Memorial Academic Scholarship
Saira Sarkis St Brigid’s College Mark Travicich Memorial Academic Scholarship
Maddison Shepherd St Matthew’s School, Narrogin Myrtle Scott-Tomlinson Memorial Academic Scholarship

We would like to congratulate these students on being awarded a Scholarship and thank all applicants who sat for the scholarship exams.

God Bless
