Secondary School NewsDecember 06, 2019
The school year of 2019 has finished and what a year it has been!
We started the year off by welcoming new staff and students, and we finish the year off by saying goodbye to staff and students. We wish the students and staff who have left or are leaving the College at the end of 2019, all of the best on their new journey and remember you will always be a part of St Brigid’s Community.
The Year 12s have long completed their ATAR Exams, and I am confident that they are enjoying a well-earned rest before they start the next chapter in their lives. The Year 10s and 11s also completed their exams without too many issues and are now well and truly in holiday mode. However, I would encourage them to start reading their novels or even the first chapter of their textbooks to give themselves a head start for 2020. The booklists are located on the College website under Enrol – Student Essentials – Booklist – Year group.
Middle School Students have worked hard to complete all their work for the year in a timely fashion. In between the school work, they’ve attended retreats, mud play, First Aid courses, rock climbing, cartooning sessions, self-defence classes, and had obstacle courses to navigate. I’m sure they will be coming home exhausted and maybe, just maybe, a little messy too, but with one hopes, some great skills – even I learned a new thing regarding CPR, and that is you play the song Another One Bites the Dust in your head to help you keep the rhythm.
We welcomed all new students for 2020 at last week’s Orientation. On Thursday night the new boarders came for a sleepover and then on Friday they joined the rest of the new students at school. An exciting day was planned with the students doing some cooking, a couple of science experiments as well as some drama and music sessions before they participated in the Treasure Hunt at the end of the day.
