A major aspect of College life
At the Year 12 level, there is the role of Head Girls, Head Boarders, plus College Ministry, Cultural, Sport, and Sustainability Leaders and House Leaders for the six Houses.
These girls, plus the College Assistant Leaders from Year 9 form the Student Council Executive. Two Representatives are appointed at each year level for each House thus forming committees for each House. The student Leaders meet regularly with the Head of Secondary, Senior key teachers and six House Coordinators, and perform a variety of functions including running of the School and House assemblies and organising a range of events including House competitions, and fundraising for nominated charities. In Boarding, Head Boarders lead the Boarding Council under the guidance of the Head of Boarding.
Leadership Opportunities and Training at St Brigid’s College
Students are provided with a range of seminars and guest speakers as part of the preparation for the election process in Year 12. Voting takes place at both College and House level.
Whether elected leaders or not, all St Brigid’s students are called to be leaders and a range of other excellent opportunities exist, particularly for Peer Support Leaders in Year 11. We have Captains in the various areas of Sports and Arts.
In our Primary School, the Leadership structure involves students in Year 6, taking on the roles of Ministry Leader, Cultural Leader, Sports Leader and Sustainability Leader. Two students from Year 6 are also elected as House Captains for each of our six Houses. Their role involves assisting with the organising and management of sporting events such as the Swimming Carnival, Cross Country Carnival and Athletics Carnival.
